Safety is one of the major concerns for the Rosemount TankRadar^® Rex system. The Rex gauge itself is designed to meet the highest safety requirements, and to contribute to increased safety level in your LNG plant.

SIL 2 functional safety
Rosemount TankRadar^® Rex has been assessed by an independent third party and considered suitable for use in SIL 2 safety functions according to IEC 61508/61511. The decision on the usage of proven-in-use devices, however, is always with the end-user.

TÜV-tested for overfill protection
Rosemount TankRadar^® Rex is TÜV-tested and approved for overfill protection according to the German WHG regulations. The Rex gauge is also designed to meet the API standards. This means that no separate, independent overfill alarm switch is required. The function is based on the relay outputs, by using either one or a combination of two, for overfill or dry run protection.

Designed for safe service
The gauge is equipped with a fire-proof ball valve between the transmitter head and the cone antenna which is located inside the tank. If needed, the transmitter head which contains all electronics can be switched without taking the LNG tank out of service.
